Belgium - Ukraine ( Eurobasket 2013 )

belgium ukraine eurobasket 2013 picks and predictions
This might seem to be a game between two mediocre, insignificant teams. However, that's actually the main reason why I think it possesses a certain value to me. If I'm not wrong, this is the first time Belgium team is set to participate in European Basketball Championship, at least the first time in recent decades, if not at all. Ukraine, on the other hand, has been part of this organization from time to time in spite of they didn't achieve anything significant in the last two decades.

I had the chance to watch Belgium team closely as Belgium was one of the participants of Spor Toto Cup held in Istanbul a few weeks ago. As I said, the team has nothing special within their rotation. It's probable that Basketball isn't the sports of primary interest in Benelux region; therefore, Belgium team has nothing appealing at the first sight. Ukraine, in contrast, had been a part of Soviet Union, so they are supposed to be more experienced with this game. When we look at the odds, Ukraine despite their given experience isn't declared as heavy favourites of this match up as the spread is only 3.5 points against them.

Belgium rotation is almost entirely composed of players playing in their domestic league. They have only 3 players who play outside of the country, in Spain. Sam Van Rossom, Jonathan Tabu and most importantly Axel Hervelle are the trio to whom Belgium heavily counts on to achieve things, if any. Ukraine, similarly, consists of players who play in Ukrainian Super Liga. As a difference to previous tournaments, this time they miss their NBA experienced players Kyrylo Fesenko and Oleksiy Pecherov. Ukrainian domestic league isn't considered one of the top leagues of Europe. As an example, Ukrainian champion Budivelnik Kiev did make their way to Euroleague only this year. ( In the previous years, Budivelnik competed only in Europe's second best tournament Eurocup ) Belgium achieved their only victory against Czech Republic during the preparations whereas Ukraine managed to defeat weaker Sweden and more remarkable Poland about 2 weeks ago.

This mediocre Belgium team despite their lack of quality showed a lot of heart in Spor Toto Cup in Istanbul. They lost all the games due to their limited potential, but this doesn't blind me to see the amount effort they put as soon as they stepped on the court. Their weak rotation didn't prevent them losing the games; however, against both Serbia and Croatia, Belgium team managed to head to the locker room with a clear lead at the half time. Such performances made me make my mind already two weeks ago for this game. As I said, Ukraine has nothing special. It's Belgium here who is clearly more determined. If Belgium is to win a game, this is it. But, I'll go for a lot safer option here. The half time spread is amazingly appealing.

I'm pretty sure this line will quickly drop, so let's hurry!

Pick: Belgium Half Time +2.0 @ 1.90 bet365

Good luck and happy betting!!!
