Besiktas Istanbul - Pinar Karsiyaka
Besiktas is one of the mediocre teams of the league this season. After reaching to TOP 16 in Euroleague, they suffered 6 consecutive losses which meant pretty much the end of the journey for them. The roster lacks enough quality to deal with the biggest names of Europe, so such a streak is far from being surprising. Besiktas team not only lacked the quality, but also suffered some injuries throughout the season, so most of those losses became just inevitable.
Pinar Karsiyaka, in contrast, has been enjoying a fantastic season. They are 3/0 in Eurochallenge cup where they almost secured their way to quarterfinals. In the domestic league, they perform even better. In the first half of the season, they decisively defeated big names of Istanbul at home, naming themselves one of the toughest teams to be matched on the road. In the rest of the season, they need to face big opponents on the road. Their road performance will be deciding their fate prior to the playoffs.
I sense a great value in this game. Given the current form graphs of both teams, visitors has a decent chance of winning this game. Karsiyaka point guard Robert Lee Dixon is in top shape. He averaged 29 points per game in the last 3 Eurochallenge match ups.(Last week, he scored 20 points against Mersin Bsb.) Besiktas' biggest scoring threat Curtis Jerrells is little bit off shape now. Inside the paint, Pinar Karsiyaka is undoubtedly dominant with the combo of 2 americans and Bora Hun Pacun while Besiktas has only Gasper Vidmar against them.(Cemal Nalga is a terrible player. He scored 1/8 from the FT line last week) In the wings, Besiktas players Serhat Cetin and Patrick Christopher have unsteady performances whereas Karsiyaka forward Jon Diebler is a much more reliable name. Muratcan Guler is still injured in Besiktas while Tutku Acik is lack of serious match practice in spite of he's recovered from his injury. Pinar Karsiyaka is missing only Caner Topaloglu who is a rotation player with 10 minutes per game max. So, his absence isn't a big deal.
I expect Pinar Karsiyaka to win this game. The given spread is quite reasonable to place my bets with full stakes, though.
