Crvena Zvezda - Galatasaray Medical Park

Crvena Zvezda - Galatasaray Medical Park pick
Eurocup 2012-2013 Season Top 16 games continue and Galatasaray Medical Park is visiting Crvena Zvezda in Belgrade this wednesday. After a non satisfying performance, Galatasaray Medical Park was beaten by Unics Kazan 74-80, so this unpleasent defeat meant this game a crucial importance for them. Hosts, on the other hand, started to the group stage pretty well by winning Ratiopharm Ulm on the road. Another victory might mean a half way through for Crvena Zvezda Telekom, so Galatasaray Medical Park has undoubtedly a tough match up ahead of them.

Galatasaray Medical Park which initiated the season pretty well completely lost its positive momentum. Despite the declining performance, they had been winning the games in the domestic league;however, facing Unics Kazan brought the problems onto the daylight. They especially have hard time finding solutions against the accelerated tempo of visiting Unics Kazan team. Unics Kazan comfortably converted fast break chances into easy points and they managed to achieve an important victory on the road. Chuck Eidson who scored 23 points was without a doubt man of the match while Ian Vougioukas and Mike Wilkinson also contributed great deal of scoring to help Unics Kazan to defeat its opponent. David Hawkins and Jamont Gordon's double digit scoring for Galatasaray Medical Park just weren't enough to avoid the defeat.

Unlike Galatasaray, Crvena Zvezda made a fantastic start to Top 16 last week.  With 32 points of Igor Rakocevic who was an Anadolu Efes player in the past, Crvena Zvezda defeated Ulm Ratiopharm. German side was totaly outrebounded which was the main reason they suffered a defeat. Although Rakocevic was the leading scorer, three other players also scored in double digits, most remarkably Elton Brown who recorded 18 points and 10 rebounds in just 18 minutes. Boris Savovic who spent the last year in Turkey playing for Galatasaray Medical Park scored 15 points while grabbing 5 rebounds.

It's such a game whose outcome is highly difficult to estimate. Belgrade has always been a tough place to play for visiting teams. As far as i heard, the tickets are sold out, so Galatasaray Medical Park will feel a significant pressure from the crowd. Crvena Zvezda plays in european scene after a break of 2 years and not surprisingly, they are the highest scoring team of this competition. They lost only once against Cajasol Seville about a month ago while Crvena Zvezda won its five last games in the adriatic league. Galatasaray Medical Park visited Turk Telekom on last saturday where they didn't impress anyone. Turk Telekom, despite being trailed at the first half, managed to achieve a come back and played the last minutes head to head in the scoring sheet. They'll certainly be extra motivated for this game but we'll see if that is enough considering home side Crvena Zvezda is quite motivated as well. Galatasaray Medical Park is struggling especially at the paint defense where home side could dominate its sets if executed properly.

One quick remark; Galatasaray Medical Park defeated Crvena Zvezda 70-80 on November, 1st in Belgrade in an exhibition game.

Pick : Crvena Zvezda -4.0 @ 1.90
Stake: 5/10

If the spread drops even further, I might stake some more too.
