Fenerbahce Ulker - Union Olimpija

fenerbahce ulker union olimpija pick
In a crucial match up, Fenerbahce Ulker is going to host Union Olimpija whom they defeated 75-81 on the road about a month ago. Visitors so far have only 2 victories, both attained against group worst Mapooro Cantu. It's a game which could decide the fate of the 3rd and 4th seeds of group A.

Fenerbahce Ulker has had a terrible streak recently. Two weeks ago, they were swept away by Mapooro Cantu when Fenerbahce Ulker visited Italian team for the 5th match day. After such a heavy loss, they faced another strong team, this time in domestic league, where Fenerbahce Ulker lost against Pinar Karsiyaka again. Last week, they visited BC Khimki Moscow where Fenerbahce Ulker showed some signs of reaction. However, they couldn't avoid losing by a contoversial buzzer beater. It was heavily argued whether or not the last shoot was legit since the shotclock was down to 0. The referees allowed the last offense and visiting Fenerbahce Ulker lost once again 71-70 against BC Khimki. Last weekend, Fenerbahce Ulker defeated Tofas 74-66 but Tofas couldn't be taken as a reference to evaluate their performance for this match up.

Union Olimpija could arguably be the weakest team in group A, but they managed to defeat Mapooro Cantu at both games. At the beginning of season, Union Olimpija was said to have financial issues with the sponsor and they were revealed to have been participated to Euroleague in a very last minute. It is hard to say that they perform well in Adriatic League, too. They have pretty inconsistent performance which makes it tough to guess what they can and can't achieve in any given match up.

On the eve of this crucial match up, the biggest news came out this evening. Long time injured Bo McCalebb tested himself tonight under the supervision of doctors and he managed to complete the team training. So, he is going to play tomorrow night against Union Olimpija. His presence should definitelly boost Fenerbahce Ulker's offensive performance. Besides him, coach Pianigiani seems to be little bit convinced about transferring J.R Bremer's minutes to reserve point guard Baris Ermis. J.R Bremer has played terribly whose poor performance harmed Fenerbahce Ulker rather than helping them on the court. Romain Sato, who experience problems with Slovenian authorities and couldn't play in the first match will also play tomorrow. Union Olimpija doesn't have any injuries reported.

After being in a losing streak for a long time, Fenerbahce Ulker will certainly start the game very aggresively. With Bo McCalebb back on the court, they look to accelerate the game and dominate the scoring from the first possession while they should be fighting hard in order not to allow easy points in the defense. Rebounding was just another problem which Fenerbahce Ulker suffered heavily. Tomorrow, David Andersen, Oguz Savas and Mike Batiste should work hard to contain Aron Baynes and Dylan Page.

Nevertheless, it is still not possible to note Fenerbahce Ulker being able to defend as well as coach Simone Pianigiani wishes;therefore, the full time spread seems little bit risky to me. I'll go for the half time spread instead. With the boost of their home crowd and by paying careful attention to rebounds, which was the weakest link of Fenerbahce Ulker team so far, they should quickly take the lead and dominate Union Olimpija already in the first half.
