Besiktas Istanbul - Barcelona Regal

Besiktas Barcelona pick
Undefeated Barcelona Regal will visit Besiktas in Istanbul where the home side already achieved qualification to the next stage of Euroleague 2012-2013 season and will look to hand in the first defeat to its opponents. They lost the first game 72-60 on the road when Barcelona Regal dominated the game especially at the second half.

Besiktas, though not usually seen at the perfect shape in domestic games, somehow finds the proper motivation to take on their opponents. In fact, the team is established by players most of who either never played in Euroleague before or had limited experience of it. So, they are hungry for success and their high concentration to Euroleague matches are reasonably understandable. So far, they've lost only against Cska Moscow at home, so they'll try to keep it their only one at this stage. Visiting Barcelona Regal is currently the only undefeated team at Euroleague, so they'll look to extend their record at least one week more.

Besiktas Istanbul recently faced some injury problems. Point guard Tutku Acik is still injured and he is not expected to play against Barcelona. Another injured player is power forward Cevher Ozer. Tutku Acik is an important loss for the team, whereas Cevher Ozer could be easily replaced as Besiktas has other alternatives for that position. Nevertheless, the absence of both players didn't cause much trouble to hosts when they enjoyed the victory over Brose Baskets last week and guaranteed the qualification to the top 16. Barcelona Regal is also suffering some injury problems. Juan Carlos Navarro and Pete Mickael have some injury problems and they didn't travel to Istanbul for this match up.

Since Besiktas already achieved the qualification, they would be relaxed which might positively contribute to their performance. Patrick Christopher, after a few weeks of downward performance, is on fire again and he'll be the biggest support of point guard Curtis Jerrells who is the second in Euroleague in terms of scoring. Nate Jawai who created the biggest trouble for Besiktas at the first game will face Gasper Vidmar who is also in better condition than ever this season. Besiktas suffered the lack of rotation at the second half of the match up on the road, so by the absence of Navarro and Mickael, the rotation deficit might have been balanced a bit. Barcelona Regal is the only unbeaten team, which no doubt brings extra motivation to home side to take them down. If they want to prove that their early qualification is of no coincidence, I think that's the best chance that they could possibly have.

Pick : Besiktas Istanbul +7.5 @ 1.80
