BC Khimki - Fenerbahce Ulker

BC Khimki Fenerbahce Ulker pick

BC Khimki is a team that has been on fire recently. They'll host struggling Fenerbahce Ulker in the opening game of Euroleague's sixth match day within 2012-2013 season. BC Khimki lost the first game 92-80 on the road and tomorrow they'll try to take revenge of it. Fenerbahce Ulker whose form level is quite questionable right now is a tough match ahead of itself.

Fenerbahce Ulker started to the season well but they later on show declining performance both in Euroleague and in domestic league. Last week, they were swept out by Mapooro Cantu on the road in a match up where hosts led the entire game with mostly double digits. The final score was 82-58, Mapooro Cantu handing visitors one of the heaviest defeats of their history. Fenerbahce Ulker not only performed terribly but also seemed to have surrenderred quite easily, which was criticized more than the defeat itself. This group of players is established with very high expectations behind them; however, so far, they are far from being convincing that they could actually achieve anything. As a matter of fact, everyone expected a reaction by Fenerbahce Ulker during the weekend when they were hosted by Pinar Karsiyaka;however, Pinar Karsiyaka didn't treat them any better than Mapooro Cantu did. Pinar Karsiyaka just handed in another decisive defeat to Euroleague contender Fenerbahce Ulker.

BC Khimki lost against Fenerbahce and Mapooro Cantu on the road;however, unlike Fenerbahce Ulker, they show improving performance where they won their last 2 games, including a victory against Panathinaikos on the road. We should also note that BC Khimki is the only team that managed to deliver their only defeat to undefeated Real Madrid. ( Real Madrid is 7/7 in spanish ACB as well!) They have the same record (3/2) as Fenerbahce Ulker, so winning this game, they'll strive to secure the second spot after group leader Real Madrid.

Fenerbahce Ulker seems to suffer problems concerning the team chemistry rather than individual poor performances. Some players definitelly perform far worse than they should, but more severe problem is that they can't react to turn things around as a team. Bo McCalebb is still facing injury problems. He sat out last weekend against Pinar Karsiyaka. Mike Batiste is out of shape. It was David Andersen who showed signs of increasing performance;however, he commits personal fouls so easily and recently needs to come to the bench when he is needed on the court. Oguz Savas is just another big man with declining performance. The figures also prove what is seen on the court, Fenerbahce Ulker being the worst rebounder of Euroleague. They also play with one of the least assist numbers among 24 teams.

Unless a miracle occurred in the past a few days, BC Khimki with their recent momentum should make things very hard for visitors both in defensive and offensive edge of the game. Bo McCalebb didn't travel with the team and he won't play. So I expect Zoran Planinic to be dominating a lot. With Zoran Planinic in the backcourt and Kresimir Loncar,James Augustine and Paul Davis in the frontcourt, home side is more likely to lead the game. Fenerbahce Ulker has to shoot highly efficiently to strive back. Honestly, I don't see this happening so easily against motivated BC Khimki. I expect a clear home win. The reasonable full time spread could also be taken by medium confidence.

Pick : BC Khimki -4.5 @ 1.90
